My Little Addictions

I think a little introduction to the cast of characters is necessary. Most of my horses have come from situations that were not ideal. Cy was on a feed lot in Rochester and Blue was an underweight and relatively unhandled yearling. Ri'Ya had the fortune of being bred and owned by a wonderful couple who had the means to afford the best vet care when she had her accident, and they made every effort to ensure she would be able to function and excel with her disability. They are my partners and one of my greatest joys.

Ri'Ya is a coming 7 year old half Frisian and half APHA mare. I acquired her as a 9 month old from the couple that bred her. She had an accident at 9 days old  that caused the loss of her right eye and underwent surgery and rehabilitation that left her well adjusted and happy. It has not slowed her down one little bit, she is an amazing and loving mare. I feel like she is a little piece of my heart and soul.

Cy is a coming 2 year old AQHA gelding. He was bred for reining, cutting, and ranch work but sadly his breeders felt he was no longer suited for that when he suffered a mishap in the field that damaged his right eye at 2 weeks old. Eventually he underwent surgery to remove the damaged tissue and through some unfortunate luck he ended up on a feed lot in Rochester, WA. My mom showed me his photo when he was listed on the Auction Horses website and we both decided we should give this boy a home. He has exceeded my expectations in every way; he is one of the most friendly, well mannered and intelligent horses I have had the pleasure of owning. I see great things in our future together.
Last but not least is Blue. He came to me as a very skittish  yearling. Now at the age of 5 he is finally settling down and I am hoping he will be able to start saddle training this summer. He spends his time down in Portland getting some "city therapy" with my aunt, she enjoys doing groundwork with him and he enjoys getting treats from all the neighborhood folks who are just tickled by having a horse nearby.
